Sushi Burger!

A few days back I was on Facebook and I saw a add for a sushi burger...What a sushi BURGER? I could not resist.. it's one of those times where you know that the flavors might not work.. but still you must try it..

My nephew Fahad's 2 favorite items are rice and burgers.. so perfect I ordered a dozen.

They arrived on time with very beautiful packaging and nice presentation, but to be honest the mix did not work for me. On the other hand my friend who tried it enjoyed it a lot.. soo I guess it's just one of those items that you just got to try for the sake of saying "I had a sushi burger"

Random fact of the day!

During the middle ages a lemon slice was served with fish, because it was though the juice would dissolve any bones that were accidentally swallowed!
Do you think that maybe that's why they got in to a habit of always serving lemon with seafood?

New to the Catering menu!

A good friend of Munch asked us to create a menu for her event..so we put out thinking caps on, and created a finger food that turned out to be a great success. Now you can also order them..

Above: Artichoke and mascerpone puff pastry

Tortellini and sundried tomato bites

Random fact of the day!

Chocolate contains psychoactive ingredients, which are known to make you feel good, but the only problem is that you need about 20KG of chocolate to feel the buzz!

Kissing may have originated when mothers orally passed chewed solid food to their infants during weaning!

OK that just ruined the romantic side of kissing!

The pecking duck roll

If I am not mistaken, since we have opened, the Pecking duck is the most popular dish we have on the catering menu and gets ordered in large quantities always! This is a very popular dish that we make at home, but we make it with a Indian twist, we use the chapati bread instead of a pancake.. It's much lighter, but unfortunately for caterings the chapati always dries out!

The Meat Co. 360 Mall Kuwait

Today we are going to mix things up a bit and do a review on a restaurant. Instead of going in to a friends kitchen, we are going in to the Meat Co's kitchen and reviewing them...

I was lucky enough to meet Mona (Marketing) and Hussain (Operations) of the Meat Co. They were in Kuwait a few days for some work, and were kind enough to invite me to the Meat co. and try out their food!
Now I jumped on this opportunity and said.. can I get a tour?.. ooh and can I go in to your kitchen.. ? They agreed happily!

Meat Co. is a great place to see if you have not been. It is a franchise that came out of South Africa, and to celebrate that concept, most of the decor in the restaurant is made in South Africa.. For example look at the leather walls.. how cool!

My Tour guide Mr. Ahmed. Now for all you clean freaks out there.. Meat Co is the only place in 360 mall that has it's own bathrooms that are impeccably clean if I may say!

The private room!

The round open kitchen where all the magic happens!

I loved this little poster.. the divisions of the cuts in the cow! What a great way to get your staff to memorize the anatomy of the meat they sell!

Now the fun part starts... The fridge.. loaded with all the freshest of fruits and vegetables that you can think off!

The Freezer, I could barely stay in there for 10 seconds!

A detailed poster of all the cuts and how best to use and cook them!

My favorite cut: The fillet minion (also the most expensive)

The Meat Co. only use Organic olive oil.. and I loved all the different kinds the had as a kitchen display!

Our order on the grill: Some ribs, Gold beef, and Wagu!

Assembling the Apple crisp dessert..

Mr. Ahmed demonstrating the importance of cleanliness: All staff must wash and disinfect their hands when leaving the kitchen..

It's always great to know that you are eating in a state of the art place, that takes pride in their cleanliness!

My lovely Hosts: Hussain, Mona, and Karim.

And now the food starts to arrive.. to be honest, I didn't have a chance to snap away at ll the dishes, because we were being served so many things to try.. but I think I got a few good ones.

The 250 day grain fed gold steak: Beautiful!

The ribs: Oooh la la... wa wa weee! They were beyond delicious.. finger liking good! A must try when you are there!

The chicken salad: Very fresh and light with wonderful flavors of Sumac and pomegranate.
Now if you have not tried out the Meat Co. Then get in your cars and drive your self to 360 mall and treat yourself to the best meats Kuwait has to offer.. with a warm friendly staff, this place will surly impress anyone that tries it!

Munch

It seems that we have a few visitors from around the world.. who only know us through our blog.. and I am sure a few of you in Kuwait who order catering from us but have never visited us!

Today you get to see who we are.. a tiny little restaurant located in Dar Al Awadi, that is packed with flavors and ideas!

Now the Munch restaurant has a completely different menu than the catering, which is also very different from the BBQ station..but all three of them carry the same identity!

Munch is a 100% Kuwait concept, from furniture design, menu, logo design, execution and management.. and we are proud to go a little further and say that the whole place was put together by young Kuwaiti woman working in different fields!
