Tuna in Japan
A friend of Munch was kind enough to send us these pictures from Japan. Apparently all the best tuna is from there.. which would make sence since they consume so much Sushi.
Take a look at how fresh it is and the colour..pink..beautiful. You can actually see the marbeling of the fat. This must be the belly!

More ribs please!
Just in case you missed it first time round: Don't forget, we have just added ribs on the BBQ menu!
It ain't a BBQ unless you got some chicken and ribs on the grill!
Who want's some BBQ crabs..
Dear friends, I apologize for the past few days of no posting, as I was feeling under the weather.. But I'm back and ready to tease you with our mouthwatering pictures. As we are experimenting with new recipes on the BBQ, we want to venture out more in to the seafood world, so we attempted a BBQ crab dish.
I asked the chef to add 10 Thai red chillies seeded to the marination.. But what did he hear? 10 Thai red chillies steamed! So imagine my surprise when we had our test audience over and I said to them, no don't worry it's not to spicy!
Ooo la laaaaaaaaaaa! Our mouths where on fire!! Not enough water to cool it down.. someone said "drink milk" and I was thinking, milk and crabs ..eeew!
Long story short.. they were delicious, but extra spicy! (maybe that is why I was feeling under the weather for so long)!

Testing..
As we continue to test new recipes, I wanted to share a beautiful and colorful looking salad with you. It's NOT on the menu, we are just trying it out.. But basically it's Parmesan wafers, figs, cherries, mixed lettuce and a Berri cream sauce.

Working on it!
As the weather is unbearable and the all I can think of is new recipes for the soon to come 2nd branch to Munch, I find myself in the kitchen frequently!
So this past week I have been trying to perfect this brownie..now any one can make brownies, but my challenge is to make it without butter.. So far I'm heading in the right track. I think I need a few more goes at it before it's the perfect cholesterol friendly brownie:)

Ribs, ribs, and more Ribs.
I wanted to make sure before releasing them to the menu that we had perfected them. Now as of yesterday I am proud to say that you an now order the most delicious BBQ ribs from the Munch catering menu.
Make sure to order at least 1 day in advance, because it takes about 3 hours to get them cooked in the oven before hitting the flame!

The world champions for a day!
A few years back a team of Kuwait's finest fishers went and competed in the Mauritius fishing world cup. Dr. Hilal al Sayer, Jameel Sultan, Fawzi Sultan and Tareq al Salem were the world champions by catchings a 550 lbs Blue Marlin on 19/02/2006.
Having won the tournament on the second day, they decided to take the third day off. To their luck the same boat they were on was rented out to another country and guess what... they caught a bigger fish!
So Kuwait had the title of the world champions for one day, and lost it the second day to a fish 10lbs larger.
Moral of this story: Never take a day off!

Cherries

Guessing game!
Now I am posting the answer, since no one knew what it was.
It's called Callu de Cabrettu, and if you look at the shape of it, it looks like a goat's breast. Before the goat is killed, her breast is removed full of milk, and allowed to mature in the breast!!
So would you try it?

For the longest time I have been hearing about the new Sultan Center that opened in Solider Beirut, so as part of my homework, I had to pass by! I am not sure where to begin!! This is nothing compared to what we have in Kuwait. This was a high end gourmet super market.
Honestly guys, this puts Dean and Deluca to shame! And to know that it is a Kuwaiti concept makes me smile a little harder!
